2011’s Spiritual Journey

I have never read straight through the entire Bible. But there’s almost nothing I’d rather do than this. I want to read for the big picture of God’s story and for the discovery of who He really is. I’m not going to try to remember where Jehoiachin falls in the line of Israel’s whacked-out Kings. I want to seriously soak it in.

I am starting Deuteronomy today. Let’s hope I can read this one faster than Numbers. Otherwise this goal could be in jeopardy.

I also want to memorize the book of Colossians, which truly can be done in just a few minutes per day.  Interested? Check out His Word in My Heart by Janet Pope. I almost can’t say enough about this book.

  1. I read through the Bible in 2009. Amazing!!! Just could not believe I had waited so long to do it. The Old Testament is so crucial to understand how we got where we are today. Yes…there are some parts that are harder than others to get through but wow there are so many things that we can identify with. It makes the New Testament and the Life of Jesus even more amazing!!!

  2. Yeah for Deuteronomy! It encourages and disciplines me every time I read it. I finished Ruth this morning and cried…what a beautiful, inspirational story God gave us there. A real life story. I’ll work on Colossians with you!!

  3. Chronicles is like quicksand to me. A rerun of everything you just read, but just enough new detail in there to make you realize you have to read it just for that 2% of new stuff. I admit, I abandoned ship and moved to Matthew. Need to go back and pick up the prophets…
